CONCEPT

MANTLE adopts the concentration in a central unit of the following functions: (i) generation of synchronization signals (ii) generation of radar signals (iii) processing of the received raw data. The central unit is connected to multiple radar heads by means of optical fibre-based links. Since the optical links carry microwave signals, they are called radio-over-fibre links. The proposed MIMO approach requires that the different spatially distributed radar heads are considered as the sparse elements of a virtual antenna array.
